[Vol. 1 Issue #198]
It's a windy weekend in the Midwest, another week in the books, and another Friday to celebrate a typical work week. Today we bring you several unrelated stories from the breadth of info we read for you! The BBC shortens the stories for us, a food website takes us back to the 90s, and a Guardian regular tries to fix a hole in his roof. We finish with a Zane Lowe interview and Jeff Tweedy from Wilco on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Big Stories
Gwyneth
In a bizarre story, Gwyneth Paltrow was in court recently to defend herself against a man who claims she hit him on a ski slope. The story would only sometimes find its way into this newsletter, but how we found the video makes it worth sharing. The BBC has a great news page called One-minute World News. Think of Instagram Reels or YouTube shorts but from the BBC. We could watch several one to two-minute news stories and now have a head full of Gwyneth.

Spotlight
Grey Poupon
In a series called I Love The 90s brought to us by the Spruce Eats, they reminded us about some of the commercials we loved a few decades ago. Everything from "Have you any Grey Poupon?" to Bagel Bites. The write-ups on each commercial are a nostalgic walk through the days when TV was simple.
Got Milk?
The campaign that lives on today got its start in the 90s.

Umbrella Roof
One of our favorite Guardian writers, Tim Dowling, is at it again. He makes our souls dance with his stories of life and how he lives it. Equally impressive is how uninterested his spouse seems in everything he does. This is how Tim writes about her; the truth may be different. Dry storage that could be drier is the topic for today. A small hole in a corrugated roof on the property that Dowling uses to store; paint, wood, and other items that don't need to be warm but must stay dry.
Dog through the cat flap
In the middle of Dowling's discussion with himself, his dog locks himself out of the house and won't come in through the cat flap. It's a side story that has nothing to do with the roof but highlights once again the struggle it must be to be the primary caregiver of Mr. Tim Dowling. Read his article to figure out what he does with the umbrella!

Depeche Mode Goes Lowe
Zane Lowe does a great interview with Martin Gore and David Gahan. Depeche Mode released their 15th album after losing Andy Fletcher, a founding member, this last year. Lots of great stuff. If you have ever been a fan of Depeche Mode, there will be bits that will surprise you. News to us, Martin Gore, keyboardist and one of the songwriters, worked with Richard Butler of the Psychedelic Furs in 2020 during the lockdown and wrote several of the songs on the latest album Memento Mori.
Jeff Tweedy from Wilco goes big Burrito and has beef with Fred Armisen – Watch This!
